John Ainsworth

Executive Vice President, General Manager, Application and Data Platform

As Executive Vice President, General Manager for the Progress Application and Data Platform business, John leads a dynamic team dedicated to ensuring the long-term success of organizations who depend on Progress to develop and deliver large scale, enterprise applications and data connectivity solutions. Guiding all aspects of engineering, support, product management and sales, John empowers his teams to innovate the technology underpinning leading applications worldwide.  

Throughout his over 30 years in the software industry, John has perfected a leadership style founded on connecting with people at an individual level. Whether in engineering, sales or product management, John has a proven track record of helming high-performing teams that deliver results.

Prior to joining Progress, John held positions of increasing seniority at CA Technologies, the most recent being Senior Vice President of Engineering Services. In that role, he was responsible for delivering horizontal engineering services to CA business units and product teams across the company’s entire product portfolio. In other roles at CA, John drove various R&D initiatives, including with CA’s offshore development center and served as Senior Vice President for a number of large and diverse product lines core to CA’s business.

John earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Coventry University in the United Kingdom.
